Meet The Cast

Michael Dell

Michael G. Dell is director of music/organist at South Jacksonville Presbyterian Church, in San Marco. A native of Jacksonville, he is a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, and holds music degrees from Stetson University in DeLand and the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Michael thoroughly enjoys his role as principal keyboard accompanist for Jim Goodell’s Bella Voce, and very much looks forward to the hopeful return of numerous collaborative musical opportunities with all of the Bella family! He also enjoys opportunities of working with Jim and Chris at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Ponte Vedra, as well as other local churches, including weekly work with San Jose Catholic Church. He is the founder and conductor of the community choral group, The Heritage Singers of Jacksonville. Michael maintains his own piano/organ studio, and frequently joins with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra when the repertoire calls for an organist. He enjoys offering musical support for the High Holy Days, and other special services, at Congregation Ahavath Chesed (The Temple), as well as numerous other venues and events across Jacksonville. Michael also enjoys playing for Octoberfest and other such events, in his role as keyboardist (and “pseudo accordionist”) with the Newtons’ Wunderbar Band, as well as other musical enterprises with Glynda and Cliff. He is a published composer, hymn writer and frequent performer, in both classical and jazz styles, often involving improvisation. During the 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic, Michael has temporarily refocused his church and community choral groups into handbell ensembles, often preparing original arrangements intended to engage both congregation and audience in continued communal musical experiences, conveying hope and inspiration during challenging times!
